UZBEKISTAN IS BACK IN THE COLLECTIVE SECURITY TREATY ORGANIZATION, (by Erkin Akhmadov, 02/04/2008 issue of the CACI Analyst).
The Thirteenth plenary session of the Senate Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan started in Tashkent on March 27, 2008. At the 28 March session, the Parliament ratified a document reinstating Uzbekistan's membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The signatories of the treaty cannot join other military alliances or other groups of states, while an aggression against one signatory would be perceived as an aggression against all.

UN and Uzbekistan: Partners in Development
The publication titled "UN and Uzbekistan: Partners in Development" is a result of joint efforts of the UN programmes, funds and agencies operating in the country. These are UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNODC, UNESCO, WHO, and UNAIDS. It gives a brief overview of support that the UN agencies have been providing to Uzbekistan's development since 1993. The publication also highlights the UN contribution to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the country. The publication "UN and Uzbekistan: Partners in Development" can serve a guide to the UN's work in Uzbekistan and thus is intended for wide readership. UNFPA Annual Report 2006
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Annual Report 2006 highlights UNFPA's efforts throughout the year assisting 154 developing and transition countries and territories to empower women and men to make the choices necessary to improve their lives, improve reproductive and sexual health, reduce maternal death, promote HIV prevention, address unmet needs for family planning, advance effective population policies and alleviate poverty.
