May 16, 2008. World Bank provide $28M for HIV/AIDS program's 7th round
World Bank will provide $28 million for implementation of the 7th round of HIV/AIDS control program in Kyrgyzstan, Talgat Subanbaev, chief manager of the Global Fund to fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria project said at the news conference today. The project is to last till 2013, with the 2-year first phase period, requiring $12 million. "The rest funds will be channeled after the first phase is successfully accomplished," Subanbaev stressed. The 7th round of the program will be mostly focused on labor migrants, namely those who work in HIV/AIDS high risk countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The project intends to involve about 15 thousand of migrants.

May 16, 2008. A Swiss delegation visited Ashgabat
A Swiss delegation led by Head of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia section of the Political Affairs Division of the FDFA Ambassador Christian Meuwly arrived in Ashgabat. During the visit to the Turkmen capital the members of the delegation including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Turkmenistan Mr. Alain Guidetti received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and had a series of the meetings at the Ministry of Economy and Development. A bilateral intergovernmental agreement is issued upon concluding the talks. The guest visit the landmarks of the Turkmen capital.

May 16, 2008. UWED Legal Clinic holds roundtable with journalists
Legal Clinic under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) in cooperation with newspaper Molodej Uzbekistana (Youth of Uzbekistan) held a roundtable on the cooperation of the Legal Clinic with mass media to discuss key issues on youth rights and promotion of legal knowledge among youth. The roundtable was held within the framework of UNDP project "Legal Aid and Legal Literacy for Better Access to Justice".

May 16, 2008. RBC approved intermediate term plan of social and economic development of Kazakhstan for 2008 - 2010
Astana. May 16. Kazakhstan Today - During the tenth session the Republican Budgetary Commissions (RBC) under the presidency of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov approved the intermediate term plan of social and economic development, the intermediate term of fiscal policy for 2008 - 2010, and parameters of specification of the republican budget for 2008, the press service of the Ministry of Economics and Budgetary Planning informed the agency. "According to the agenda, the session of the Republican Budgetary Commission have considered and approved the intermediate term plan of social and economic development for 2008 - 2010, intermediate term of fiscal government policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2008 - 2010 and parameters of amendments of the republican budget of 2008," the press service informed.

May 15, 2008—May 16, 2008. Tajik, Kyrgyz presidents meet in Khujand to discuss cooperation issues
Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev is arriving in the Tajik northern city of Khujand tomorrow for a two-day working visit, according to presidential press service. Bakiyev and his Tajik counterpart, President Emomali Rahmon, are expected to discuss issues related to border delimitation, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and preparations for the SCO summit. We will recall that the issue of delimitation and demarcation of Tajikistan's common border with Kyrgyzstan has not yet settled completely. In the Sughd province, incidents are sometimes occurring between residents of the Tajik district of Isfara and the Kyrgyz district of Batken over water consumption problems.

January 30, 2008—December 31, 2008. Competition on the best coverage of socioeconomic problems announced in Kulob
The Kulob mayor’s office has announced a competition among local journalists on the best coverage of socioeconomic problems facing the city and the district of Kulob. Journalists of all local publications irrespective of forms of property are invited to participate in the competition, which is dedicated to the 1,150 anniversary of founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature Abu Abdullo Rudaki and the Tajik Language Year that will be marked this year. The winners of the competition will be given prizes in money: 1st place – 1,000 somonis; 2nd place – 500 somonis; and 3rd place – 300 somonis. The award ceremony for the winners will be held at the first press conference of the Kulob mayor in 2009.

Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan invites the public correspondents to take part in the "Best journalist of the year" contest.
