The conference aims to engage policymakers and other interested parties in developing an action plan focusing on a strong knowledge-based economy as the basis for greater economic competitiveness and social progress. Using case studies from participating countries, it will also look at the specific challenges for countries about to join the EU on May 1, and for other states in the region of Europe and Central Asia.
