July 20, 2004. Round table on “Rural Development and Poverty Reduction”
United Nations Development Programme and Center for Economic Research (CER) are organizing the round table on “Rural Development and Poverty Reduction” to be held on July 20, 2004, at 10:00 – 12:30 at UNDP Conference Hall. The roundtable discussion will be built around three policy studies commissioned by UNDP to national think tanks and research groups (Center for Economic Research, Banking System Forecasting Institution, Uzbek National Institute of Market Reform in Agriculture, TAHLIL Research Center): - Family Assets Mobilization - Restructuring of Agricultural Enterprises - Financing of Rural Development and will focus on a wide range of issues related to institutional reform in agricultural sector, creation of enabling environment for rural infrastructure development, including new types of institutes for financial intermediation, and their increasing role in mobilization of resources for employment generation. The format of the roundtable is designed to promote an exchange of opinions and facilitate active dialogue among its participants. With this aim brief presentations on the part of panelists will be followed by roundtable commentary and open discussions.
