Central Asian region has all opportunities to become powerful economic centre of the world, new Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Bolat Nurgaliev said in interview to Itar-TASS. Mr Nurgaliev said the region has huge labour and hydrocarbon resources, metal and chemical elements, good conditions for agriculture and great market. SCO Secretary-General said that member countries of the organization – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – adopted programme on economic cooperation and action plan on its implementation, which envisages realization of over 127 projects in various sectors. Nurgaliev said the countries are working on unification of infrastructure, transport, customs issues to ensure free movement of goods, capital, technologies and services. He added that the sides are developing SCO Energy Club and Asian Energy Strategy within the organization.
