March 13, 2007—March 14, 2007. Asia-Pacific: E-Tourism for Growth / Matching market efficiency and social inclusion
On 13 and 14 March 2007, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will hold a two-day conference for the Asia-Pacific region entitled "Asia-Pacific: E-tourism for growth / Matching market efficiency and social inclusion" in the framework of the implementation of the WSIS outcome on ICT for economic development. The objective of the conference is to promote and contribute to growth and empowerment in the region through the implementation of Information and Communication Technologies in the tourism sector. In order to reach this goal, UNCTAD will be joined by other relevant international organizations, governments, civil society and business community high-level representatives who will share their experience over the two-day event. Guest speakers will address a number of key issues on e-tourism and development. The event will take place at the Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia and is open to tourism stakeholders from Asia-Pacific.
