The meeting of officials of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation was held in Manila (Philippines). The Kyrgyz delegation was represented by stats secretary of the Finance Ministry A. Dikambaev and stats secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications K. Mamayev. Delegations from the eight participating countries and six multilateral institutions that comprise CAREC discussed recent developments and future plans in the program's priority areas of transport, energy, and trade; issues related to the establishment of a CAREC Institute; and preparations for the Sixth CAREC Ministerial Conference to be held in November 2007 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The Kyrgyz delegation emphasized the necessity to continue construction and reconstruction of such transport corridors as Bishkek-Sary-Tash-Irkeshtam and Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart.
