The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific is pleased to announce that the Asia-Pacific Business Forum (APBF) 2007 / SPECA Economic Forum will in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The theme of APBF 2007 is, “At the Crossroads between Asia and Europe: Harnessing the Possibilities of Central Asia”. About 250 senior government officials, business leaders, academics and civil society representatives are expected to participate. The APBF 2007 will provide participants with a unique platform to discuss opportunities and challenges for Central Asia’s increasing integration in the global economy. Issues for discussion in moderated panels include economic diversification and financial services, strategies to improve the business climate and to strengthen international trade competitiveness, regional economic cooperation, the contribution of business to sustainable development and cost effective healthcare.
