May 17, 2007. Second Eastern European and Central Asian AIDS Conference
The meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council for Cooperation on Health, which took place in Minsk on 15-16 March 2007, confirmed that the second Eastern European and Central Asian AIDS Conference will be held in Moscow in May 2008. The second conference is expected to gather around 2,000 people and will be the largest regional forum to date devoted to the regional response to AIDS, and will contribute to strengthening of capacities to scale up the response throughout the region to prevent the further spread of HIV, and treat and care for those living with HIV/AIDS. The conference is also expected to provide valuable input to the XVII International AIDS Conference which will be held in Mexico City in August 2008.
