July 9, 2007. Presidents of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan set up joint intergovernmental commission
The Turkmen central mass media outlets published the text of the joint statement signed by the presidents of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as a result of the Turkmen-Afghan high level talks. "Having discussed issues of trade-economic relations, the presidents noted the importance of cooperation in this sphere and expressed their intention to strengthen economic cooperation on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and comprehensive consideration of interests of the two countries, the document says. The presidents agreed to set up a joint intergovernmental Turkmen-Afghan commission on economic cooperation with a view to speeding up economic relations between the two countries."
