July 20, 2007. Uzbek-Afghan intergovernmental commission meets in Tashkent
Uzbek-Afghan Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation held a meeting in Tashkent. The delegation of Afghan businessmen headed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry Mir Amin Muhammad Farkhang arrived in Tashkent to participate in the meeting. During the meeting the parties exchanged views on the economic potential of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, discussed the prospects of cooperation in specific sectors of the economy. They also addressed the issues concerning the participation of Uzbek companies in the projects on the recovery of social infrastructure of Afghanistan, improvement of the qualifications and skills of Afghan specialists at higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan, expansion of cooperation in the field of automobile and railroad transportation, and telecommunication.
