August 3, 2007. Tajikistan, South Africa to boost economic cooperation
South Africa’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Bekizizve Uizd Jila presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon. Following the credentials-presenting ceremony, the two discussed issues related to expansion of relations between Tajikistan and South Africa. After a meeting with Tajik president, Jila told journalists that in the course of the talks they had underlined the importance of political cooperation between the two countries. On the trade and economic cooperation, the ambassador noted that the present state of trade and economic relations between the two countries was at improper level and there was considerable room for expansion of economic ties. He also pointed to the necessity of expanding scientific-technical cooperation. Asked about the possibility of establishment of cooperation between the two countries in the field of mining, the diplomat said that there is an intention to discuss this issue at a joint business forum in Dushanbe. “As far as development of tourism and relevant industries is concerned, at first, we ought to organize exchange of information,” Ambassador Jila said.
