- November 1, 2007. Contest for best material about HIV/AIDS

The Republican AIDS Centre in cooperation with UNESCO and the Regional Project Management Unit of the Central Asia AIDS Control Project financed by the World Bank and the UK Department for International Development announced a competition for the best features, news stories and reports on "HIV/AIDS – prevention, treatment and care". The contest is a national event, and journalists from all regions, cities and districts of Uzbekistan are invited to participate. The aim of the event is to attract the attention of the media to this topic, and raise public awareness about the growing problem of the spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic among the population. Analytical and feature stories are accepted for the contest. Journalists of press may submit materials written primarily in the genres of "article" and "report"; journalists working in electronic media may submit the copies of television and radio broadcasts; and journalists of Internet publications registered in Uzbekistan as media outlets may submit materials published online. Journalists are to submit materials published and/or broadcasted during the period from 1 January to 1 November 2007. The results of the contest will be evaluated in five nominations: press, television, radio, Internet, and video. Applications for participation in the contest should be submitted before 1 November 2007.
