September 25, 2007. Turkmen capital hosted a meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation
The 7th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. Heads of the concerned ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Japan and numerous representatives of Japanese business circles took part in the two-day forum. During the meeting, the joint projects in the oil and gas sector were considered. The Japanese side announced its readiness to provide new unique technologies and equipment, lax and lot term loans for the construction of facilities for various sectors of the Turkmen national economy. On the results of the 7th meeting, the sides signed the protocol, which states the necessity of regular contacts between Turkmenistan and Japan “for the development of an effective model of cooperation meeting the realities of the present time and the spirit of mutually beneficial and equal partnership”.
