November 27, 2007. Turkmenistan starts construction of North-South transcontinental transport corridor

Turkmen railway workers started piling the foundation of a future railway of the new North-South transport corridor. The beginning of the construction has started at the Bereket station. The 700 km long transport corridor will connect the communication systems of four states – Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran that will enable increasing the freight turnover among these states by several times.
