The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is soliciting applications for a post-doctoral teaching/research associate in Central Asia-Caucasus Studies for the 2005-06 academic year. Applicants must have their Ph.D. in hand at time of application, have attained their degree after September 2000, and demonstrate a record of scholarly and pedagogical accomplishment. Social Science scholars specializing in the Caucasus and/or Central Asia are encouraged to apply.
While in residence at the University of Illinois, the Associate will be expected to teach one course in each semester (a graduate seminar in the area of specialization and an introductory undergraduate survey course in Central Asia-Caucasus Studies) and to engage in a scholarly project.
Applicants should submit a C.V., three letters of recommendation, a statement of no more than three double-spaced pages describing the scholarly project to be conducted during the appointment period, and a brief description (one-two pages) and/or syllabus of a course (directed at undergraduate seniors and graduate students) that they might wish to offer in their primary area of specialization.
