January 22, 2008—January 24, 2008. Central Asian AIDS Study Centre opens in Tashkent

On 22-24 January the Le Grande Plaza Hotel in Tashkent hosted the first meeting of the members of the AIDS Regional Technical Work Group. Since Uzbekistan has prepared many qualified medical specialists, which have been trained in Europe, Russia and Ukraine on treatment and prevention of AIDS, and because a major portion of the population of Central Asia resides in this country, the members of the regional technical work group from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have decided that Uzbekistan is most appropriate for opening the centre for training of specialists and treatment of AIDS-infected
