- February 7, 2008. Turkmenistan to build medical centers to combat AIDS and tuberculosis

The ministry of healthcare and pharmaceutical industry of Turkmenistan is due to sign a contract with Turkish company Polimeks for drawing up projects and constructing a tuberculosis treatment-prevention center, an AIDS prevention center, a central dermatovenerologic clinic, an infectious diseases treatment-prevention center, a centralized laboratory and blood test center. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to this effect with a view to "further improving the level of prevention and treatment of infectious, dermatovenerologic diseases, tuberculosis and AIW/AIDS and raising it to world standards."
