March 11, 2008—March 12, 2008. Call for Papers for International conference "Problems of Aral: Impacts on the Gene Pool of Population, Flora, Fauna and International Cooperation for Mitigating Consequences"
The Government of Uzbekistan hosts an International Conference "Problems of Aral: Impacts on the Gene Pool of Population, Flora, Fauna and International Cooperation for Mitigating Consequences". The key objective of the conference is to formulate the entire vision and comprehensive plan of actions to achieve sustainable development of the region including but not limited to the improvement of the population's living standards through creating enabling environment for better health, living conditions, and sustainable employment and income generation sources. Conference date: March 11-12, 2008. Conference venue: Tashkent, Uzbekistan with a field visit to Karakalpakstan. Interested persons may submit their papers covering the following topics: - Aral Sea disaster and global climate changes, preconditions, consequences and future prospects; - Living conditions and living standards in the Aral Sea region; - Heath and potable water; - Land degradation and water resource management in the Central Asia. Submissions should include the following: 1. paper title; 2. name(s) of author(s); 3. selected topic as mentioned above; 4. summary (250 words maximum); 5. full text. Deadline of submission: February 22, 2008.
