March 18, 2008. Uzbekistan, UAE decide to boost trade, economic cooperation
The United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan signed a package of agreements on Monday. The agreements aim to further boost bilateral cooperation. Uzbekistani President Islam Karimov is in the United Arab Emirates on an official visit. During the talks between the two heads of states and representatives of ministries and agencies, the parties signed agreements on cooperation in trade, economic and financial spheres, on investments, on tourism, as well as on joint response to organised crime and terrorism. In addition to this, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates signed memorandums on economic security, environmental protection and on cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries. In order to discuss specific spheres of cooperation, Abu Dhabi hosted an economic forum, in which businessmen from Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates took part.
