Kyrgyzstan to enter UN Commission on Sustainable Development for 2009-2012

The candidacy of Kyrgyzstan for membership in the UN Commission on Sustainable Development for 2009-2012 was supported at a meeting of the UN’s Asian Regional Group in New York. Kyrgyzstan will become the commission’s member together with the states such as China and Philippines. Kyrgyzstan will not pay membership fees and the membership gives a chance to the country to promote its interests on mountain problems, on issues of renewable energy, environment and many others, the foreign ministry’s press service reported.
