Sustainable development of the Eurasian continent I International forum has gathered ecologists from the CIS states, Europe and Asia, reps of international organizations and NGOs. The forum aims at elaboration of common position on XXI century's topical issues. Delivering a speech, Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Iskakov noted that Kazakhstan will host regular ministerial conference on Asian-Pacific region's sustainable development in 2010 and an analogous conference regarding European countries in 2011. According to the Minister, it is planned to initiate linking of European and Asian transition to sustainable development into a unified Eurasian process as well as suggest creation of a UN International Institute on sustainable development with headquarter in Astana. A Eurasian Water Center is being created in Astana at present. "This Center will serve as a large scientific-research organization which will solve problems of water resources ecology, water quality, elaboration and implementation of breakthrough projects on structural-information properties of water and its recreational potential", Mr. Iskakov said. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov sent a greeting telegram to the attendees of the forum.
