June 20, 2008. Kyrgyzstan intends to study Malaysia's experience on reforming higher education system
Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Malaysia J.Kulubaev met with the minister of higher education of Malaysia, a spokesperson of the foreign ministry of Kyrgyzstan told. During the talks, J.Kulubaev informed the minister about carrying out reforms in the system of higher education of Kyrgyzstan and expressed Kyrgyzstan's interest in studying experience of Malaysia on reforming the higher education system and establishing cooperation between education ministries of the two states. The parties agreed to activate joint efforts for soonest signing of an agreement on cooperation in the field of education and exchanged opinions on expediency of contacts and visits at the level of heads of ministries for discussing concrete spheres of cooperation.

June 9, 2008. Malaysia help Kyrgyzstan to train personnel for the agency on warning corruption
A two-day international conference entitled "The fight with corruption in Kyrgyzstan. Problems and perspectives" ended in Bishkek. Spokesperson of the national agency of Kyrgyzstan on warning corruption Baktybek Rysaliev told it to a correspondent of "Kabar" News Agency. He told a memorandum on mutual understanding on bilateral cooperation in warning and fighting with corruption was signed on the results of the conference between the national agency of Kyrgyzstan on warning corruption and anticorruption agency of Malaysia. Commissioner of the national agency of Kyrgyzstan on warning corruption Askarbek Bakeev and director general of the anticorruption agency of Malaysia Said bin Hamdan signed the document. Malaysia will help Kyrgyzstan to train personnel for agency on warning corruption according to the memorandum.

June 6, 2008. Kyrgyz PM met with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia
Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Igor Chudinov met with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia Dato Seri Mohammed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz. During the talks, I.Chudinov expressed thanks to the guest for participation in the international conference on corruption in Kyrgyzstan. I.Chudinov said the growth of GDP and budget receipts of the country is connected, above all, with successes in fighting with corruption and due to improving administration in customs and tax inspectorates. The PM emphasized that the country's further development is connected with fighting against corruption. The government on this occasion eliminates the reasons of origin of corruption. Kyrgyzstan attaches a great importance to the cooperation agreement that signed by anti-corruption agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia. The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia said that his country is ready to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan and assist in necessary recommendation, particularly, Malaysia is ready to share with experience and skills of fighting with corruption, assist in setting up electronic government. The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia invited Igor Chudinov to visit Malaysia.

May 21, 2008. Kyrgyzstan intends to expand cooperation with Malaysia
Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Malaysia Jeenbek Kulubaev handed over credentials to King of Malaysia Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terrengganu, the foreign ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported. At Istana Negara (Royal Palace), where minister of foreign affairs of Malaysia Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim attended the ceremony of handing over credentials, ambassador J.Kulubaev expressed Kyrgyzstan's aspiration for development of cooperation with Malaysia and supporting active political dialog. Conveying greetings of Kyrgyz President K.Bakiyev to the Malaysian King, J.Kulubaev underlined Kyrgyzstan's interests in opening a new page in bilateral Kyrgyz-Malaysian relations.

Tan Sri Dato Sri Mohd Hasan Marikana, president of Petronas (Malaysia), one of the world leaders in the oil and gas sector held talks with vice prime ministers of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov and Ergash Shoismatov in Tashkent. The negotiations focused on further development of the Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation in the oil and gas sector and development of new joint projects. Uzbekneftegaz national holding company and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) signed a memorandum of cooperation in oil and chemical industry and agreements on cooperation.

February 1, 2007. Protocol on the effectiveness of PSA for the Aral project was signed in Tashkent
The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan represented by the Ministry of Economy and the participants in the Consortium of Investors consisting of the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz, LUKOIL Overseas (Russia), Petronas Carigali Overseas (Malaysia), CNPC International Ltd. (China) and KNOC Aral Ltd. (Korea) signed the Protocol on the effectiveness of PSA on 30 January in Tashkent with a view to implement the Production Sharing Agreement for the Uzbek part of the Aral Sea. The PSA for the project was signed on August 30, 2006 in Tashkent. All members of the consortium have equal shares in the project. The duration of the PSA is 35 years.

September 22, 2006. Uzbek Development Fund signed agreement with Malaysian Exim Bank
Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Bhd (Exim Bank) signed a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development (UFRD). Exim Bank said the agreement aimed to establish a framework for a strong cooperation to support and encourage investments between Uzbekistan and Malaysia. The cooperation will involve the exchange of information and increase coordination, particularly in the fields of providing financing, export credit/investment insurance and guarantees.
