January 8, 2008. Ties between Dhaka, Kyrgyzstan to be strengthened further: Bangladesh President
Bangladesh President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed expressed his confidence that the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan would be further strengthened in the days to come. He also underscored the need for undertaking measures towards increasing people to people contract between the two Muslim brotherly countries to develop the bilateral relation further. The President said this while the newly appointed Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Orolbaeva Irina Abdyevna was presenting her credentials to the President at Bangabhaban here. The President said that there is immense potentiality to increase bilateral trade between the two countries.

November 21, 2007. Bangladeshi textile enterprise seeks launch of cotton-processing JV in Tajikistan
Asanali Karamaliyev, the deputy head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CII), met with director of COSMOTEX in Bangladesh Kabeer Chovdhuree. In the course of the talks Mr. Chovdhuree said that his company is interested in establishing cooperation with Tajikistan and launching joint ventures for processing cotton and leather here.

September 10, 2007—September 12, 2007. Third International Cotton Fair in Tashkent
The Third International Cotton Fair and an International Cotton and Textile Conference titled "The world market for cotton and textile products: current situation and prospects to 2010" will be held in Tashkent. The fairs and conferences that have become important events in the life of the world cotton and textile businesses are organized by the Government of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the International Cotton Advisory Committee and the Cotton Outlook magazine. The aim of the fair and conference is to establish long-term partnership relations in the textile industry, to organize direct supplies of raw cotton, and to discus the current status and prospects of the world cotton and textile industries. The delegates of large companies from Russia, China, Korea, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and many other countries are expected to participate in the events.

June 13, 2006. ACCELS and U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe host symposium for exchange students from seven Asian countries
The American Councils for International Education in Tajikistan organized and hosted an exciting symposium funded by the U.S. Department of State for more than 80 alumni of U.S. high school exchange programs Future Leaders Exchange Program and Youth Exchange and Study Program (FLEX and YES) from Kazakhstan (6), Kyrgyzstan (10), Turkmenistan (3), Uzbekistan (4), Tajikistan (30), Bangladesh (4), and Afghanistan (23). This is the first time such an event has been organized in this region. The four-day symposium entitled "Respecting Diversity and Building Tolerance: Learning From Each Other" was held in the Varzob district, Tajikistan. Alumni from the FLEX and YES programs focused on and discussed the themes of cultural diversity, tolerance, conflict resolution, and anti-terrorism. During the conference, alumni developed their skills in designing and implementing projects based on tolerance, anti-discrimination and respect for diversity. Together with the trainers, they addressed such key issues as cultural identity, discrimination, social exclusion, cultural diversity and majority-minority relations. They had the opportunity to actually develop innovative local youth projects based on diversity and tolerance building, which will contribute to a better understanding and acceptance of minority cultural groups and of their rights, and which will generally improve community relations.

April 1, 2005. Trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Bangladesh
On March 31, Mr. Mofazzal Hossain, Counselor of Bangladeshi Embassy in Tehran, met in Dushanbe with Mr. Sharif Saidov, head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). The two discussed a present state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the area of economy and trade. The CCI press service reports that Bangladeshi diplomat telling the meeting noted, “To date, a trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Bangladesh has been at low level.” Mr. Saidov, for his part, offered organization of a mission of businesspeople of Tajikistan and Bangladesh. According to the CCI press service, Bangladeshi diplomat has arrived in Dushanbe to study the possibility of establishment of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
