This international conference will provide a platform for policy makers, regulators, industry executives, and researchers from academia and industry to discuss recent theoretical developments, techniques, and empirical findings on issues related to risk management in the financial sector. The conference registration fee will be waived for all presenters and discussants. Organizers will also provide presenters and discussants with hotel accommodation and a small honorarium to defray incidental expenses. In some cases, the organizers may offer travel assistance to presenters and discussants in need of financial support. Deadline for paper submission is March 15, 2008.

Kazakhstan intends to study the Singapore expertise in public administration and planning. It was announced today during the weekly briefing by the foreign ministry of Kazakhstan spokesman Erzhan Ashikbayev, agency reports. "From April 28 to 30 a working visit of the Kazakhstani delegation will take place to the Republic of Singapore headed by the deputy director of the president's administration Darkhan Kaletayev. The main purpose of the visit is study of Singapore's expertise in public administration and planning, as well as conducting of bilateral negotiations with the management of the related bodies," E. Ashikbayev said. He also informed that within the framework of the visit the Kazakhstani delegation will visit for familiarization a technological park Biopolis as well as industrial zone in the vicinity of Jurong and port at the Keppel harbor.

Uzbek-Singaporean Business Forum was held at the International Business Centre in Tashkent. Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Singapore Business Federation organized the event. It was devoted to further development of cooperation between two countries in the trade-economic and investment spheres.

The Singapore Business Federation and Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral trade and investment ties. Besides, Uzbekistan and Singapore signed four more MOUs in the telecoms, oil and gas and food sectors.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has been invited by the President of Singapore Sellapan Ram Nathan to pay state visit on 24-26 January 2007. During the meetings in Singapore, there will be discussed issues of expanding Uzbek-Singaporean cooperation, actual problems of international character representing mutual interest. On results of negotiations it is planned to sign several bilateral documents aimed at deepening the interaction of the two countries in various spheres.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, has signed orders on opening embassies of Kazakhstan in Armenia and Qatar and reorganizing the diplomatic missions to Singapore and Netherlands. In particular, as per the presidential orders, the diplomatic missions to Singapore and Netherlands will be transformed into embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Armenia will be opened in Yerevan. The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Qatar will be opened in Doha. The new embassies will be opened to strengthen the diplomatic relationship. All four orders come into effect as from 1 January, 2007.

Heads of the Agency for Computerization and Communications of RK met representatives of the Singaporean telecoms leader - êîìïàíèè "Singapore Telecommunications" during a visit of Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry of Singapore, to Kazakhstan. At the meeting the Singaporean side stated its interest in investing into the telecommunications of Kazakhstan. At the talks the meeting participants discussed the current state of the telecoms markets of both states and prospects of co-operation in the telecommunications, IT and the "e-government" project development.
