Delegation from Thailand led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sovanita Kongsiri visited Uzbekistan. A delegation held meetings and negotiations in the MFA of Uzbekistan, National information-analytical centre on drugs control under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, familiarized with historical and cultural sights of Tashkent and Samarkand. The main purpose of the visit was to conduct negotiations on further development and strengthening of bilateral relations in different areas.

Charge d'affaires of Kazakhstan in Thailand Bakhytbek Shabarbayev met with Kim Hak-Su, UN deputy Secretary General, Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in the context of completion of his diplomatic mission. The same day Mr. Shabarbayev met with Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs. They considered questions of bilateral cooperation and relations within the framework of CICMA and Asian dialogue on cooperation.

The Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand are working out a draft agreement “On Avoiding Dual Taxation and Prevention of Evading Payment of Income Taxes”. According to the preliminary negotiations between MFAs of Tajikistan and Thailand, a working group of Thai experts led Mr. Satit Roungkasiri, deputy director general of the incomes department of the Thai Finance Ministry, arrived in Tajikistan on July 24 to hold talks with the Tajik working group led Safarali Saidshoyev, Deputy Finance Minister. The working groups have to coordinate their plans of actions and work out the draft agreement before July 28 and submit it for consideration of the Tajik government.

Heads of the nine states will gather at the 2nd Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building in Asia (CICMA) in Almaty. Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan have confirmed their high-level participation. For the first time an observer state, Ukraine, will be represented on the high-level. The UN undersecretary and secretary general of the League of Arab States will also attend CICMA Summit. Besides, vice premiers of Israel, Mongolia, Turkey and a special representative of Indian PM are expected to take part in it too.
