December 14, 2007. Turkmen president invites Italian companies to cooperation
Issues related to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere were discussed at a meeting between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and deputy minister of foreign affairs of Italy, Senator Janni Vernetti. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited potential Italian partners to take part in the reconstruction of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries and the Seyydi oil refinery as well as in providing services at oil and gas fields and constructing new compressor stations. The sides also discussed prospects for establishing the cooperation in agriculture and the transport sphere.

“Kazakhstan is ready to develop cooperation with Italy and invest into its economy”, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said during the talks with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, who arrived with an official visit to Astana. “Italy is a priority state in Europe and leading economic partner for Kazakhstan”, the President noted. Volume of bilateral trade increased by 70 per cent and amounted to USD 8.5 billion in 2006.

The main objective of the International Congress is to determine the role of Turkic civilization among other civilizations in the process of globalization. Some 70 scholars from 20 countries will take part in the Congress, including Japan, United States, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and others. The scholars will make reports and hold discussions. The delegation of Italy led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Senator Gianni Vernetti met with the Deputy Chairman of Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Farruha Muhiddinova. During negotiations, the sides exchanged opinions on issues of cooperation between supreme legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and Italy, on states and prospects of interparliamentary ties. An international exposition of domestic textile "Central Asia Home Textile 2005" opened in Almaty yesterday on March 29, 2005. 72 companies from 10 world countries - Kazkahstan, Turkey, Korea, Italy, India, China, Germany, Austria, and others - presented their goods. Among the exposed goods there were plaids, curtains, towels, carpets, mats, blinds, and home clothes produced by textile enterprises. Organisers of the exposition hope that such events will promote extension of the Kazakhstani market and attraction of investments into the textile industry.

March 3, 2005. Italian, Uzbek businesses meet in Tashkent to set ties
Italian businesses visited Uzbekistan to establish businesses contacts with their Uzbek counterparts on 1-2 March. The visit was initiated by the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Italian province of Rovigo (Associazione Provinciale Artigiani diRovigo). The meeting was held at the MDI Taskent&Towers (former Sheraton). The meeting was aimed at the establishment of business contacts with Uzbek small and private businesses. The Uzbek entrepreneurs will have opportunity to exchange experience and receive information on technologies, as well as discuss cooperation.
