June 20, 2008. Turkmen education delegation visits UK, France
A Turkmen delegation has recently visited the capitals of Britain and France to learn the international experience of planning, monitoring and management in the education sphere. The visit was organized with the support of Turkmenistan's education ministry along with two UN agencies, UNICEF and UNESCO, as well as the British Embassy in Turkmenistan and British Council. During workshops held at the Institute of Education of the University of London and at the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning in Paris, Turkmen officials discussed a wide range of issues, which are of current importance in the context of reforms in the spheres of education and science under way in Turkmenistan, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent has learned from the UNESCO office in Ashgabat. The sides also explored ways of establishing interstate cooperation in the education sphere.

June 10, 2008. Arbitration Development Center experts from Uzbekistan learn British experience
Experts of the newly created Arbitration Development Center under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan participated in the study tour (4-7 June 2008) to London, UK, to learn the British experience on the development of the arbitration courts. The delegation of the Arbitration Development Center met representatives of the British organizations, such as International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation, London Chamber of Commerce, London Court of International Arbitration and other agencies working in the arbitration system. The purpose of the visit was to study modern trends in teaching alternative dispute resolution, learn best practices and ways of their implementation in Uzbekistan.

April 17, 2008—April 18, 2008. London to host conference on Turkmen oil and gas sector
An international energy forum on the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan will be held in London, April 17-18. On President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov's instructions the Turkmen government delegation will visit the British capital to participate in the conference. The Turkmen representatives will hold talks with the British counterparts and familiarize with the operation of drilling rigs in the North Sea.

April 17, 2008—April 18, 2008. Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2008" to open in London
A conference entitled "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2008" was held in London on April 17-18. A Turkmen delegation has arrived in the capital of Great Britain to take part in the conference. The delegation includes leaders of the energy industry, i.e. deputy chairman of the cabinet of ministers of Turkmenistan Tachberdi Tagyyev, the minister of the oil and gas industry and mineral resources, Baymyrat Hojamuhammedov, and the executive director of the executive directorate of the state agency for the management and use of hydrocarbon resources under the president of Turkmenistan, Baryrammyrat Myradov. The main objective of the oil and gas forum being held with the support of the government of Turkmenistan is to introduce international business circles to Turkmenistan's energy potential, to pay the way for mutually beneficial cooperation, and to speed up the integration of Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry into the international energy system. As part of the forum, leaders of the energy industry of Turkmenistan will hold a number of talks and meetings with the British side as well as visit offshore oil facilities in the Northern Sea.

February 25, 2008. Kazakh Secretary of State to visit Great Britain
Kazakh Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev is expected to visit Great Britain on February 28 - March 6. Mr Saudabayev will attend the Dialog of statesmen on nuclear safety project. The visit is also aimed at considering the prospects for bilateral cooperation. It is expected that during the visit, Mr Saudabayev will meet with representatives of the ministry of foreign affairs of GB, parliamentarians and make a speech at the Royal Institute on International Affairs “Chatham House”.

September 20, 2007. TTL starts exploration of gas and oil reserves of the Beshtinchak field
UK-based company Tetis Tajikistan Limited (TTL) will start exploration of gas and oil reserves of the Beshtinchak field in southern Tajikistan on September 20. The company intends to invest $8 million in the preliminary work on exploration of this field. An agreement on exploration of oil and gas reserves of the Beshtinchak field between TTL and Tajikistan’s state-controlled Southern Oil-and-Gas-Producing Company, designed for seven years, was signed in Dushanbe on September 6.

August 6, 2007. British Foreign Office delegation holds talks in Ashgabat
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain and Northern Ireland headed by Director of Department for Central Asia, South Caucuses and Russia Michael Davenport has visited Turkmenistan. The British delegation held talks in the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, State Customs, and State Drug Use Prevention Coordination Commission at he Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The meetings were also held in Turkmengaz State Concern, State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President of Turkmenistan. The prospects of interaction in the economic and humanitarian spheres, particularly in education, which will take into account the existing cooperation experience, were discussed. The sides also noted the necessity of further developing of cultural ties acting as an important factor of strengthening the friendly relations between the two states.
