Minister of foreign affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ednan Karabaev met with delegation of the parliament of Norway led by MP Morten Hoglund, head of the Norwegian Delegation in OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The current internal political situation in the republic and perspectives of development of bilateral Kyrgyz-Norwegian relations were discussed at the meeting. E.Karabaev informed his interlocutor about Kyrgyzstan’s cooperation with the states of Central Asia within the framework of various integration unions, particularly, EurAsEC, CSTO, CIS, and SCO. The guest assured E.Karabaev in the Norwegian side’s interest in development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Norway both in bilateral and multilateral format.

Norway is ready to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan in the sphere of energy. Deputy of the parliament of Norway, head of the Norwegian delegation to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Morten Heghlund told during a meeting with Kyrgyz Secretary of State Adahan Madumarov. According to him, Norway generates much energy. “We can implement joint projects. I see a great potential in this field for future cooperation”, - he said.

President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev has received credentials in the Government House from ambassadors of Norway Mette Kongehem, South Africa Bekizizve Uizd Jill, Saudi Arabia Hisham Bin Abdel Vahab bin Zara and Palestine Asad Munem Al Asad. K.Bakiyev congratulated the ambassadors on beginning of their diplomatic missions in Kyrgyzstan.

On December 20, Norway’s Hydro Aluminum and Tajikistan’s Aluminum Plant (TadAZ) signed a cooperation agreement in Dushanbe, Hydro Aluminium Senior Vice-President Simon Storesund remarked at briefing in Dushanbe. He stressed that the signed agreement had put an end to disputes on London Arbitration Court’s ruling on alumina supplies to Tajikistan. “Under the signed agreement TadAZ will annually supply from 120,000 tons to 200,000 tons of primary aluminum to Hydro Aluminum in the coming four years, and Hydro Aluminum will annually supply 150,000 tons of alumina to the Tajik plant,” said Storesund, “Besides, our company will provide technical assistance to TadAZ in raising the production efficiency and expand cooperation with it in solving production safety and health and environmental protection issues”
