The TLC Conference provides a forum for faculty and administrators to share proven and innovative methods in teaching at the college level. The EABR Conference provides a forum for faculty to present their research on any business, economics, or business-related topic.

Delegates of the National Economic Chamber “Atameken” headed by its chairman Azat Peruashev paid a visit to Vienna on April 19-22 on invitation of the Austrian Economic Chamber with the assistance of Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Austria, Chamber’s press service reports. From their Austrian colleagues the Kazakhstani businessmen drew necessary experience in establishment of the sectorial and regional entrepreneurial unions and their know-how in foreign trade promotion. The Vice President of the Austrian Economic Chamber introduced the representatives of “Atameneken” Chamber to the structure and principles of its work during their visit. In addition, Kazakhstan’s National Economic Chamber “Atameken” and Austria’s Economic Chamber reached an agreement of further interaction and cooperation while preparing for the Days of Kazakhstan’s Economy in Austria.

Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Ishenkul Boldjurova met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Ursula Faringer. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in education sphere.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Federal Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer of Austria. The main topic of discussion was cooperation in the fuel and energy complex. The Turkmen leader expressed interest in studying and using Austria’s positive experience in the sphere of high-tech development, machine-building, and social security of the population. Alfred Gusenbauer invited the Turkmen president to pay an official visit to Austria in the first half of 2008. Giving consent and thanking for the invitation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his turn invited the Austrian Chancellor to visit Turkmenistan at his convenience. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.

The chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Akja Nurberdiyeva, accepted the credentials of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria to Turkmenistan, Ursula Faringer. During the meeting Austria's ambassador was briefed on the main aspects of domestic and foreign policies of Turkmenistan. The sides noted the importance of expanding the inter-parliamentary relations and establishing more close relations in this sphere with a view to sharing the lawmaking experience.

It will be organized by the Trade and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan and Trade Department of Embassy of Austria to Uzbekistan. The delegation included chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Marat Alapaev, advisor of the presidential administration of Kyrgyzstan Jyrgalbek Kasymov and chairman of the council of directors of AsiaUniversalBank Mikhail Nadel, who told at the forum about successful experience of investment in Kyrgyzstan.

The Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Vienna is organizing this conference to be held on 28-29 November 2005 at Aula, Campus University of Vienna, to bring together experts in the field of Feminist, Women's and Gender Studies from various countries to discuss differentiations that shape power relations within that field and beyond. Participants are invited to submit a proposal (500 words) indicating the scope and approach of their contribution and a short CV. Notice will be sent to participants by 10 July 2005 and final papers are due by 15 October 2005. Conference materials to be published in a series of the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Vienna. Proposals in English should be submitted by 31 May 2005.

Austrian economic delegation led by Mr. Johan Zags (phonetically spelled), Deputy Minister of Economy and Labor also Director General for Ministry’s Foreign Commercial Ties, is arriving in Dushanbe tomorrow, April 26.
According to information from the Tajik Ministry of Economy and Trade, the purpose of the visit is for the Austrian delegation to take part at the first session of the Tajik-Austrian commission for economic cooperation that will open in Dushanbe on February 27. The session is supposed to consider a broad range of issues related to bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. The session is, in particular, considering cooperation in energy, water supply, tourism and agrarian sectors.
During the visit, Mr. Zags is scheduled to meet with Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Asadullo Ghulomov.
