December 10, 2007. Uzbekistan, Bulgaria develop cooperation in the sphere of tourism
Seminar on cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bulgaria in the field of tourism was held in Tashkent. The forum was organized by the national company Uzbektourism, Association of private tourist organizations of Uzbekistan and the embassy of Bulgaria. The participants of the event said cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bulgaria in the sphere of tourism was developing steadily. Uzbekistan has a great tourist potential. Famous monuments of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and other cities attract tourists from all over the world. A wide-scale work on development of tourist infrastructure and promoting Uzbek tourist potential abroad is being carried out. Perspectives of cooperation between the two countries in tourism sector were considered at the seminar.

October 29, 2007—November 3, 2007. Golden Chest Festival
The Eurasian Academy of TV and Radio (EATP) invites to participate in the 32nd Golden Chest International Television Festival, which will be held from October 29 to November 3, 2007 in the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The competition programmes include the following four categories: - TV Films and Mini-Serials for Adults; - TV Films and Mini-Serials for Children and Adolescents (without animated cartoons); - TV Documentaries; - TV Reportages. The 3rd TV-Market of programmes from countries of Balkan Peninsula without restriction of genre of programme and duration will also take place within the framework of the International Television Festival. All programmes should have subtitles in English. The deadline for handing in applications to participate in TV-Market is set at August 31, 2007. Deadline for receiving the cassettes (1 VHS or 1 DVD) is September 30, 2007. August 31, 2007. A forum Kazakhstan-Bulgaria: new prospects for cooperation to take place in Astana
On September 3-4 Vice Premier, Foreign Affairs Minister of Bulgaria Ivailo Kalfin, representatives of the large business are expected to arrive in Kazakhstan. A business forum Kazakhstan-Bulgaria: new prospects for cooperation will take place within the framework of the visit on September 4. The Bulgarian entrepreneurs are to get familiarized with the terms of the accession to the Kazakhstan-based market. The Bulgarian business delegation will consist of the representatives of 17 companies, involved in tourism, banking sector, construction and production of building materials, food industry, telecommunications and IT technologies, etc.

July 25, 2006. Economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan will develop
In the course of a working trip to Bulgaria Premier of Kazakhstan Daniyal Akhmetov agreed with his Bulgarian colleague Sergei Stanishev to hold session of Intergovernmental Commission on commercial and economic ties and scientific technical cooperation next year. In the nearest future a group of experts from Kazakhstan will study ways for deepening economic cooperation with Bulgaria in the sphere of petroleum products’ processing, etc.

June 23, 2006. Kazakhstan and Bulgaria negotiated accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO
Intergovernmental delegations of Kazakhstan and Bulgaria held negotiations on Kazakhstan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Kazakhstan delegation consisted of representatives of Industry and Trade, Agriculture Ministries. A working meeting ended with signing a Protocol reflecting measures on approximation of the rest commodity items, first of all, in agriculture. The sides agreed to continue consultations to have coordination process completed by the end of this summer.

June 2, 2006. Global meeting on Capacity Assessment and Capacity Development
Democratic Governance practice of the Bratislava Regional Center are looking for experts to participate at the global meeting on Capacity Assessment (CA) and Capacity Development (CD), to be held at the end of October 2006 in Sofia. The 4-day workshop will be split into two parts. The first session will be a technical training in Capacity Assessment among a core group of chosen experts. The second session will be a more strategic Capacity Development session among a bigger group of invited partners. The idea is to create a UNDP community of practice on CA/CD. This programme was created to assist the citizens of Central and Eastern Europe - CEE, the former Soviet Union and Mongolia, who are pursuing advanced study within this region but outside of their home countries. It is part of the Open Society Institute's overall efforts to strengthen the academic network within and among these countries. The objective is to support cross-cultural, intra-regional student mobility.

This conference will gather together research and policy experts working on post-socialist countries in Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. They will examine the agency of central and particularly local governments whose migration and development strategies involve not only raising funds among the diasporas but also managing and creating migration flows. This conference will study development policies and their implementation, as affected by, or impacting upon, international migration. The focus will be on the successes and failures of home countries in capturing the developmental potential of either temporary or permanent migration.
