February 28, 2008. Kazakh Ambassador presented credentials to Czech President
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Anarbek Karashev presented credentials to President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus in Prague. At the talks following the ceremony the parties discussed issues of deepening and promotion of the bilateral relations. They positively estimated the current state of cooperation, noted the significant potential of the political and trade-economic interaction.

September 20, 2007. Czech Republic to open Embassy in Astana
In the near future the embassy of the Czech Republic will be opened in Astana, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Kazakhstan Milan Sedlachek reported about this during the meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov. During the meeting interlocutors discussed directions for economic cooperation in fuel-energy, machinery construction, construction sectors and transport, telecommunication, metallurgy, chemistry, processing spheres, light and food industries.

May 16, 2006—May 18, 2006. “Oil and gas Uzbekistan- 2006” opens in Tashkent
International exhibition and conference Oil and Gas Uzbekistan (OGU-2006), the largest event of oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan, opened in Tashkent. This year the exhibition marks its 10th anniversary. The organizers of the event are ITE Group Plc of Great Britain and ITE Uzbekistan under the support of Uzbekneftegaz, Tashkent city administration and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. The sponsors of the exhibition are Lukoil (Russia) and Petronas (Malaysia). Over 120 companies from 15 countries, including Germany, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, USA, Turkey, Ukraine and others participate in the event. Over 800 official delegates participate in the conference.

A Kazakhstani delegation participates in the World Bank's Knowledge Economy Forum in Prague, Czech Republic, on March 28-30, 2006. The implementation of innovative systems and improvement of knowledge utilization by ventures in Europe and Central Asia (ECA) discusses at the forum. The Kazakhstani delegation includes representatives of the National Innovation Fund, the Center of Engineering and Transfer of Technologies, the Centre of Scientific Technical Information, and the World Bank.

The conference, 'International Experience and Perspectives of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)', will take place on 26-30 September in Prague, Czech Republic. The conference is organized by the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) and hosted by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (REC CEE) and the Czech University of Agriculture. UNDP will lead two sessions. The first is entitled 'Legal and Policy Frameworks for SEA in the Commonwealth of Independent States', (topic leaders: Aleg Cherp, Central European University and Henrieta Martonakova, UNDP). The second will be on the results of the UNDP regional project 'SEA - Promotion and Capacity Building' which will be presented by the national and regional consultants involved in the project.

This programme was created to assist the citizens of Central and Eastern Europe - CEE, the former Soviet Union and Mongolia, who are pursuing advanced study within this region but outside of their home countries. It is part of the Open Society Institute's overall efforts to strengthen the academic network within and among these countries. The objective is to support cross-cultural, intra-regional student mobility.

Grants will be offered to: I. standard eligibility students of the social sciences, humanities and fine and performing arts, who have already arranged for part of the costs of their to be covered; II. special need students: Roma; refugees; people seeking political asylum; displaced (forced migrants).

September 27, 2004—October 1, 2004. International Metropolis Conference on Migration Issues in Central Asia & Eastern Europe
This conference will gather together research and policy experts working on post-socialist countries in Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. They will examine the agency of central and particularly local governments whose migration and development strategies involve not only raising funds among the diasporas but also managing and creating migration flows. This conference will study development policies and their implementation, as affected by, or impacting upon, international migration. The focus will be on the successes and failures of home countries in capturing the developmental potential of either temporary or permanent migration.
