- April 21, 2008. Kyrgyz Finance Minister heads for Kuwait

The Kyrgyz Finance Minister, Tajikhan Kalimbetova, started her business trip to Kuwait today, press service of the Ministry reported. The main aim of the minister’s visit is negotiations with the Kuwait Foundation of Arab Economic Development concerning the Kyrgyz loan restructuring under the Paris Club Protocol as of March 11, 2005. The loan reportedly counts $17,238 million. The minister’s visit will supposedly last for three days.

Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will pay a visit to Kazakhstan this year, Head of the administration of Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Nasser al-Sabah has made it public after a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. “Emir of Kuwait is going to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan this year. Two states' cooperation questions in different spheres will be discussed there”, he said. Head of the administration of Kuwait’s Emir expressed interest in development of interaction with Kazakhstan. “We consider Kazakhstan as an important partner in Central Asia,” he added.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Muhammad al-Salim al-Sabah will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan. A press-conference on this occasion took place at the embassy of Uzbekistan to Kuwait. Answering the questions, Uzbek Ambassador to Kuwait Abdurafik Hashimov underlined, that “this visit will serve as positive impact for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in different areas”.

Delegation led by Minister of Communication of Kuwait Maasouma al Moubarak met with Deputy chairmen of Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Farruha Muhitdinova. During the negotiations the sides pointed out that the agreements reached during official visit of President Islam Karimov to Kuwait on 19-20 January 2004 serve as an important factor in development of bilateral ties between two countries. During the meeting the sides exchanged views on present state and prospects of interparliamentary relations of two countries.

The book entitled “Al-Mamun Academy of Khorezm” published in Kuwait in the Arabic language.
The “Al-Bobtain” Kuwait Central Library of Arabic Poetry, Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences, as well as the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuwait contributed the edition, which is devoted to millennia celebrations of the Al-Mamun Academy, Information Agency “Jahon” reported.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab and Economic Development (KFAED) Abdulwahab Al-Bader in Oqsaroy residence. KFAED was created in 1961 with the aim to render financial aid for developing Arabian states. During the meeting the sides exchanged opinions on state and perspectives of large-scale financial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kuwait Fund for Arab and Economic Development.

Implementation of joint Kyrgyz-Kuwaiti investment projects is planned in Kyrgyzstan. Such offer has been sounded during the meeting of Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Marat Sultanov with the delegation of businessmen - investors from Kuwait led by Sheikh Mubarak al – Sayer. In particular, Speaker Sultanov expressed his readiness to assist in adopting appropriate bills. “We have all opportunities and rendering of such help would be very effective”, the Speaker said.

On June 21, 2005 the delegation of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development met with the Chairman of the "Uzbekiston Temir Yullari" Company. The sides discussed the issues of further cooperation.
In particular, it is expected that Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development issued a loan for 6.2 million Kuwaiti Dinars (approximately USD 21.22 million) to improve railway system between Tashkent and Angren city.
