General information.
Central Asian Gateway is the integrated Internet-resource, facilitating sustainable development, knowledge sharing and promoting networking among the national, regional and international organizations involved in development processes. The Portal focuses on socio-economic processes ongoing in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and on the issues of regional integration.
Extensive opportunities and services of the Portal provide a platform for interactive discussions and networking.
What is the structure of the portal?
- The main page - news on the countries of the region, navigation on information and communication resources of the Portal, polls.
- The information menu of the portal consisting of 7 sections (Introduction, CA HDR Corner, Governance Path, Private Sector Development, Regional Cooperation, Statistics, Learning Opportunities).
- Resources of the portal (Information on countries and region, Publications Database, Calendar of events and news, Forum, Consultants Database, Vacancies, Base of newsletters).
The opportunities given by the portal:
- Fully synchronized bilingual portal;
- Advanced search by content, Database of Publications, experts and consultants, news, announces and events;
- Monthly e-Newsletters (in Russian and English);
- Moderated forum;
- User-friendly navigation;
- Opportunities to receive notes and messages on updates on the Portal (in particular, on forums updates, monthly polls results, and etc.).
In order to make the Portal navigation, registration and participation in forums easier for our users the Central Asian Gateway team provides answers to the most frequently asked questions.
1. How to register?
To register on the portal, please use the menu in the bottom of the portal's pages. You should click the link "Register on the site" and then fill in corresponding fields: name, date of birth, sex, place of work (study) and yours position, e-mail address and the password. During the day you will receive the welcome letter from the cagateway@cer.uz box confirming your registration (the letter will contain the address of your e-mail and the password).
Besides, the registration service is available in all pages of the portal - Forum, Consultants Database, etc.
2. How to use search option?
To use the search options on the Central Asian Gateway Portal please insert parameters (criteria) of search into the field of the search window. Search options are available on the each page of the portal at the top right of browser.
The advanced search options classify criteria of search by the following basic directions:
- Materials of the portal (sections and subsections of the information menu);
- Documents from the Publications Database;
- Experts and consultants;
- Events, news and announcements.
3. How to use Publications Database?
Publications Database are housing the Internet links to analytical, statistical and other materials on development issues relevant to Central Asia and to each country of the region in particular
To find necessary documents or materials placed in Publications Database of the Central Asian Gateway portal please use the main menu in the left part of the browser. Having click on "Publications Database" choose region or the country.
Navigation by topics of Publications Database is carried out by search menu placed at the top right of the Database page. You may choose relevant topic and subtopics of the Database.
Publications Database consists of 13 main topics: Region (country) Overview; Poverty Reduction; Health; Education; Environment; Civil Society; Democratic governance; Gender; ICT for development; Regional Partnership; Economic Reforms; SMEs Development; Private Sector Development.
Each topic is divided into several thematic subtopics.
Having chosen necessary topic and subtopic, please press the search button. Now you can review the materials contained in the Database on the chosen theme.
There is also an option to search documents by keywords on the Portal. You may insert criteria of search into a field of the search window placed under the fields for search by topics and subtopics.
4. How to participate on the Central Asian Gateway Forum?
Forum aims at encouraging discussions on various issues of regional development, regional integration, and MDGs.
To participate in the forums of the Central Asian Gateway portal, it is necessary to be a registered user (see point #1).
To leave the message at the forum or to open a new theme, please enter the address of your e-mail, and the password into the menu located at the top left of the Forum page.
If it is your first visit of the Forum you should familiarize with the Forum Regulations. Forum Regulations intend to ensure open discussion and moderation of various issues. The regulations are the basic document governing the work of the forum. If you disagree with this document you cannot take part in the e-discussions.
If you enter the Forum as a registered user (entering e-mail and the password, acquaintance and consent with Forum Regulations) you can use the Forum navigation tools. In particular, you can place messages or open new theme.
5. What kind of resource is Consultants Database and how it works?
Consultants Database is a unique resource containing CVs of high-level researchers and consultants which are necessary for the majority of the international organizations. On-line database offers rapid search for specialists of various profile (including but not limited to specialists on Gender, ICT for Development, Macroeconomics, Crisis Prevention, HIV/AIDS, Poverty Reduction, Social Policy, Democratic Governance, Energy and Environment).
The Database is targeted to various organizations allowing them to engage experts for conducting researches, trainings or seminars, project assessments, and for other short and middle term assignments.
If you are interested in the search for experts, please use the Consultants Database search tool, which is located in the bottom of the page. Please enter the preferable country of expert's residing, sphere of activity and demanded specialization into the fields of search. If you want to familiarize with all CVs available in the Database, just click "search" button without filling any fields. Then you can view CVs of the all experts.
Also the Portal provides an option to conduct search for consultants' CVs by keywords.
6. How can I add my CV to the Consultants Database?
If you are interested to add your CV to the Central Asian Gateway Consultants Base, you should be a registered user (see point #1).
You should login the Consultants Database using your e-mail and registered password.
At the first visiting of the Consultants Database you should review the "Regulations of Database". This document ensures placement of reliable data and creation of conditions for constructive dialogue between users and the Central Asian Gateway team. The Regulations are the principal document determining the conditions of the Database existing and updating.
The document defines general requirements to experts, rights and obligations of users and administration. This document also contains information on how to fill in an interactive form of CV.
Central Asian Gateway team developed unique online CV-form in two languages (English and Russian), which includes the following points:
- General information about consultant;
- Consultant's address;
- Education;
- Qualification (area of research);
- Work experience;
- Knowledge of languages;
- Publications;
- References;
- Photo;
- Other information.
User is requested to fill in the each section in both languages (English and Russian).
You can preview your CV prior to its adding to the Database. Please note that CV will not be automatically placed online. To make it available online the candidate should submit two recommendation letters from international or non-government organizations on his experience as national or international consultant. Recommendation letters should be sent to the following e-mail: cagateway@cer.uz or by fax (99871) 1512548.
7. What kind of information is placed in the Calendar of events and how does this resource work?
Calendar of events and news is one of the resources of the portal, assisting to all interested users to be guided on forthcoming events in the region, such as conferences, forums, seminars, round tables, trainings, etc.
Also the resource contains information on competitions, contests, the research and other grants.
The Calendar of events is supplied with user-friendly navigation tools. The advanced search option allows finding information on events by the following parameters: country, countries-participants, type and focus of the event, organizers and participants.
You can also use the search option by keywords.
The search options are available at the top right of the Calendar's menu.
8. What section of the Portal provides information on the regional initiatives and programs?
Information on some regional initiatives, regional organizations and programs is available in the Regional Cooperation section (the menu on the homepage of the Portal). The section covers the largest regional programs and organizations. The section is being regularly extended and supplemented with new subsections on other regional programs and organizations.
9. How to subscribe for monthly Newsletters?
To subscribe for the Central Asian Gateway Portal monthly newsletters, please use the menu at the bottom of the Portal's pages.
In the appeared window of the browser you can insert and make changes in the subscription parameters. For doing this you must be a registered user. If you are not registered you can register in this window.
10. How to provide feedback or suggest useful information (events and publications) to the Portal's administration?
The menu in the bottom of the Portal's page contains links to the following feedback opportunities: "Register on the site", "Change my profile" (for the users who want to change their personal data in the registration form), "Suggest a link", "Suggest an event" and "Write to us".
The last three points of the menu provide an opportunity to suggest materials, events, announcements, and publications, as well as to suggest offers and recommendations by interested users to the Central Asian Gateway team.
Users of the portal can also use Site map for better navigation in the Portal's resources and services.
