Timely conducted monitoring and evaluation of socio-economic development allows to government bodies and representatives of civil society and international community to familiarize oneself with progress achieved by country.

Kazakhstan
In accordance with enlarged meeting of the Government of Kazakhstan on the results of the first half of 2004 major activity is focused on the following:
- Achieving maximum economy liberalization through further implementation of system reforms,
- Stimulating economy diversification and development of ensuring infrastructure.
Reagrding the system reforms the Government has implemented the complex of measures on economy demonopolization and strengthening its competitive component. Legislation has been considerably improved thus assisting in creation of favourable business environment, reforms on liberalizing foreign trade regime have been continued, positive results have been achieved in the area of activity carried out by state development institutions.

Kyrgyz Republic
All efforts on implementation of the Comprehensive Development Framework (CDF) of Kyrgyz Republic are directed to solving two vitally important objectives: poverty eradication and raising the state reputation in the international community. The poverty level is planned to be halved by 2010.
The first stage of practical implementation of the Comprehensive Development Framework has become the Three-year Mid-term National Poverty Reduction Strategy approved at the meeting of National Council on CDF Implementation in September, 2002.

Tajikistan
The major work of the Government of Tajikistan focuses on the following directions: poverty reduction, improving market regulation mechanisms, support to entrepreneurship development and promoting attraction of additional finance resources for further transformations and raising living standards.
In order to strengthen the state independence the Government of Tajikistan continues to implement reforms in those areas of public life that are most vital thus determining main development trends of the XXI century. Recently positive changes have taken place in political, socio-economic and cultural life of the republic: successful overcoming of civil war consequences, political stability, development of small and medium enterprises.
Since 1997 GDP gross growth rate has reached 32,5%, mainly due to rapid development of industrial and agricultural sectors. Although these indicators could not considerably improve living standards, the majority of population lives below poverty line, nevertheless the Government actively participates in implementing institutional transformations, structural reforms, creating market infrastructure and favorable investment climate.

Turkmenistan
Strategic goal of the National Programme is aimed at transformation of Turkmenistan to the rapidly developing country with high level of socio-economic development, ensuring high population living standards.
The priority tasks defined by the National Program are the following:
- Achieving the level of developed countries, preservation of economic independence and security through high economic growth rate, introduction of advanced production technologies and increase of labor productivity.
- Steady increase of gross output per capita.
- High investment activity and increased construction of industrial enterprises.
According to official information of the Government Portal, for January-July 2004 the gross output in Turkmenistan increased by 21 %, including industrial 22.4 %, agricultural 20.5 %.
The foreign trade turnover increased as well: for the first 6 months of 2004 - by 19.6% and amounted 3.5 billion USD, including export - 2.0 billion USD. For the reviewed period the foreign trade surplus constituted almost 580 million USD.
For the period of 2000 - 2003 the average annual budget revenue growth rate constituted 22 % while the annual gross output for this period increased by 26 %.

Uzbekistan
The Government of Uzbekistan has accepted and is currently implementing a number of important national strategy papers, Decrees of the President and other legislative acts assuming deep gradual changes in all areas of socio-economic development.
Currently according to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan the trend of strengthening macroeconomic stability and speeding up economic growth rate still exists. In accordance with the Results of socio-economic development for January-June 2004 GDP growth rate constituted 6,2%, which is 1,6 times more than the same indicator for the period of January-June 2003 (3,8%).
The results of the first half of 2004 are testifying effective implementation of priority objectives of economic reforms in Uzbekistan. Introduction of convertibility of national currency and structural reforms led to substantial economic growth. Activity of legal entities is increasing, as well as their share in domestic and foreign commodity markets. More favorable investment climate attracts foreign and domestic investments. Improvement of public and economic administration is currently in progress. These achievements provide basis for employment generation, income growth and increasing living standards of population.
